How to Make Your Task Easier While Working from Remote Locations?
While when everyone
across the globe is hoping that COVID-19 does not become a major concern
especially in their part of the world. Almost every country has seen its
diverse effects whether developed or developing. By analyzing the current
situation, businesses are analyzing every possible contingency plan in ensuring
that their business operations are least disrupted. Although, a few employees
such as those related to the telecommunication office have previously worked from
their place, but, for many, it would be the first time working as a remote employee.
We have put together a few tips that could be useful for you at this time to be
more effective and successful, working from the comfort of your place.
Tip 1 - Sticking to a schedule
While at home, you are more fluid in your day in comparison to
what would not have been possible at the office. Hence, you can set your
schedule accordingly. Firstly, one needs to find a routine that suits him/her
best. We generally tend to think that sticking to a schedule would make us more
constrained and will kill our creativity. But, it eventually gives more
positivity and productivity to the work. While without a constructive routine,
it would become difficult for workers to stay motivated and efficient. It is
difficult to stay 24*7 in your PJs and work as effective as you do at the
traditional office. As, it would constantly keep the employee in the relax mode
instead of working. A steady morning routine would help you segregate personal
part from your professional one. So, instead of lying down with your laptop on
your bed, try taking a shower, get ready and try taking a few steps to reach to
the desk placed just next to you. Although these all tasks could seem to be
ordinarily, but will help you to be more focused and will make your work much
easier.
The work from home gives you the freedom to work when you are most
attentive, awakened, and productive. So, you don't necessarily have to work those
traditional 9 to 5. It's up to you how well you plan your day and stick to it.
By working this way you can make the most of your working time because you can
kill when your body is most efficient and take rest when it is least attentive.
Tip 2- Selecting the appropriate tools and
equipment
By selecting the right tools and keeping them by your
side while working would help you make every second of your work constructive.
Investing in the right things such as a comfortable chair would help enhance
your concentrating power instead of working on an aching one. Your laptop
screen should be eye-level, back straight, and feet flat on the floor. If you
have issues sitting for longer periods you can accumulate it with a standing
desk, switching between the two would be beneficial for both work and your
back. Keep only the things you need while working and segregate it from other
things. It will ensure that your workspace is uncluttered and will help you
take the needed breaks in between in clearing up your mind. Not just this, the
required software should be properly aligned as it will help you in sharing
information, communication, task management, etc. which is equally important
for effective working.
Tip 3- Determining borders
As discussed, there are numerous distractions at home and
hence one can easily be lost in it and burn him/her out. So, it is advised to
segregate work from play. Working from the comfort of your couch would make it
hard for you to work dedicatedly, as it won't let you get into the work mode.
Leaving your workplace for a break or when the day ends would help you both
mentally and physically leave the work behind and focus on other stuff and the
next day pick up the work from where you left it off. Setting up a do not
disturb board at your work desk would let others know that you have defined
boundaries and hence they would try not to interfere during those hours.
